Student Government
Student Government works with Academic Programs, Student Life, Institutional Advancement, and other departments and administrators across campus to build a more supportive academic setting, a stronger social community, and a healthier campus climate for students. In addition to hosting events and funding clubs, the SG budget is dedicated to special initiatives and projects that benefit the student body and improve the student experience.

Hello everyone! My name is Israel James, and I am ecstatic to be your Student Body President for the upcoming 44th SG Session! I am from Rocky Mount, North Carolina where I attended Rocky Mount High School. My major goals for the forthcoming year include using my voice to advocate for the student body, making the campus more accessible to all students, building the bridge between the student body and student government leaders, and curating fun activities and events for the campus community! With these, I want to strengthen our relationship with NCSSM Online and NCSSM Morganton and promote campus-wide cohesion and inclusivity! After class, I enjoy reading the Holy Bible, collecting rocks, hanging out with family and friends, playing pickleball or tennis, and making short TikTok videos! As your Senate President, my goals are to advocate for the student body, ensure transparency in all Student Government legislation, collaborate with Morganton’s SGA, and work closely with committee leads to enhance our campus experience. Hi everyone!! Nice to meet you! I'm Leah Nikhil, and I will be acting as your Secretary for the '24-'25 school year as well as the Co-Chair of the Campus Improvement and Renovations committee along with the incredible Skyler Qu! I'm from Cary and Concord but I've lived all over the state in many different places, and I love getting to know everyone from all over the state! My mission is to help you voice your concerns on campus and act on them in a professional, timely, and effective manner; I want to make NCSSM feel like a place where you feel valued and listened to! In my free time, you’ll find me in the library doing research, ETC courtyard attempting to colorguard, or anywhere anytime doing k-pop dances terribly. Come find me!

Hey everyone! I’m Chloe from Greensboro, North Carolina, and I used to attend the Early College at Guilford. For SG, I plan to make more successful mental health initiatives as much as I can, working to uplift the student body and be a friend that others can rely on whether it be for the campus, hanging out, or confiding in. Along with these initiatives, I wish to make the campus an even more exciting place to live, making sure students, despite living at the school, can make campus their home rather than a simple workplace, acting as both a voice for my grade and a member who can create even more exciting events for students to experience! Additionally, my passion for environmental sustainability, sparked by an Environmental Science J-Term, drives me to support initiatives that back student-led sustainability projects. Hi! My name is Pranav Mettu and I'm from Rocky Mount NC. I'm super excited to serve on NCSSM's Student Government, as I have many ideas to work towards a better future for NCSSM. Through my role as Food Services Liaison, I hope to create more food options for those with dietary restrictions/needs and act upon student feedback about NCSSM's food services. In addition, I hope to develop a system in which the PFM has access to fresher ingredients from neighboring farms and markets around Durham, in order to create healthier meals for the NCSSM community. I hope to accomplish these goals by working with our cafeteria staff, managers, and industry professionals. My role is to connect the counseling department with the student body.
